When the couple realized that their plans for a destination wedding in Italy weren’t going to happen due to the pandemic, they enlisted us to plan an upscale autumn wedding weekend at the groom’s family farm. In only three months, we planned a 3-day event that allowed the couple’s friends and family to join together to celebrate their love and marriage at Tusculum Farm in Maryland.
Friday started with a moody rehearsal dinner and elevated barn party complete with hand-dipped caramel apples, a Dixie band, and hand rolled cigars. The couple dressed the part complete with hats, plaid, and boots. The bridal party stayed on the property in a luxury tent village from Wild Tribe Tent.
Saturday’s outdoor ceremony and tented reception was autumn romance to the utmost. Ceremony guests were welcomed with hot apple cider. Plaid blankets adorned the ceremony chairs while magnolia leaves adorned the aisle. Guests exited the ceremony with a glass of champagne on their way to a raw oyster bar and passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour. The reception tent entrance was lush with florals and fall foliage, while the inside was warm and welcoming. Tent poles wrapped in foliage, antler chandeliers, light blue patterned linens with wood, china, leather, and feather decor all added to the autumn allure. The night culminated in fireworks, a surprise from the groom’s mom. The bride changed into a dark blue velvet reception dress for dancing, and the charismatic band kept the party going for hours.
Sunday ended with brunch and a traditional Fox Hunt, an annual tradition at Tusculum. Enjoy the thoughtful details and sweet relationships captured in these photos from the talented Laura Gordon.
Thank you to Laura Gordon for these incredible wedding photos and to a wonderful vendor team for their hard work to pull this off in such a short time. It was pure joy to celebrate Sophia and Nick in such a special way.
