We’re so excited to see Natalie’s Monet baby shower at the Hay Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C., featured on Inspired by This blog! Pam worked with Natalie’s mom and best friend to plan a baby shower that combined the creativity and style Natalie is known for. Colorful, artsy, and vibrant, the design reflected Natalie’s fun personality. Since Natalie and her husband had honeymooned in Paris and returned to Paris for their babymoon, a Parisian baby shower with Monet-inspired details was a natural design choice.
Light blue fabric draped across the ceiling of the Hay Adams, creating a watercolor sky while an array of beautiful blooms floated on a deep blue tablecloth. Hand painted invitations and menus of a water scene with a mommy & baby swan continued the Monet theme. Swans were used throughout the day, from place cards to decor to delicate swan cookies and an intricate swan-inspired cake. Since the baby’s gender was kept a surprise until birth, both blues and pinks were elegantly used throughout the design. To complete the artist theme, guests were invited to paint an “artful brushstroke” on a canvas for the baby as a keepsake. European elements were injected into the baby shower decor, such as the antique crib that displayed the gifts and an ornate vintage dresser for desserts.
Special thanks to Inspired by This for featuring this special baby shower celebration, and to Amelia Johnson for the lovely photographs.
